Grant Writer-PT

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:      

The PT Grant Writer develops and submits proposals to prospective and returning grant-makers to secure resources advancing the mission of Sheltering Arms.  This key member of the development and communications team will generate submissions for foundations and corporations to support early childhood education and 2Gen Approach programming, sponsorships for fundraising events and general operating support from the submission calendar provided.  This position reports to the office 20 hours each week and is compensated $25.00 per hour. 

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Writes, prepares and submits compelling grant applications and proposals as directed
  • Identifies new grant funding opportunities
  • Meets assigned deadlines and project manages each submission to completion.
  • Completes required reporting to grant makers
  • Maintains monthly tracking report
  • Maintains appropriate donor and electronic prospect files

 

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:     

  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office 
  • Exceptional Writing Skills
  • Raiser’s Edge exposure a plus
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Familiarity with program & project budgets
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Professional interpersonal skills and disposition

 

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree (B. A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university
